Support "Pedals for Paws"
A Journey to Build a Better Future for Pets in the Democratic Republic of Congo!
Dear friends and colleagues,
We are thrilled to launch "Pedals for Paws," a heartfelt project with a powerful purpose. Our goal? To support the creation of a small ruminants and companion animal teaching clinic at the veterinary faculty of the University of Lubumbashi in Congo.
After visiting the faculty, Dominique Peeters and I envisioned a plan to enhance the teaching of clinical veterinary medicine and develop their clinics. By doing so, we not only help animals, but also the people counting on these animals... Two veterinarians, Hyacinthe and Anaïs came to Liège University to be trained in clinical examination and point of care ultrasound, being trained by experts such as Soren Boysen, Anne-Laure Etienne, and Christian Hanzen. Upon their return to Lubumbashi, they will develop clinical teaching in Congo.
Now, it's time to take the next step: developing a clinical teaching hospital, so they can spread the knowledge.
To help make this possible, I aim to raise at least €11,000 (or even €110,000) for their clinic, inspired by the 11,000km distance separating our faculties, and the unfortunate coincidence I currently weigh 110kg.
That said, I'm counting on you to sponsor my (in)sanity...!
- Over the next 110 weeks, I will ride 11,000km on my bike, equivalent to the distance separating Liège and Lubumbashi.
- During that period I will complete an 11-day gravel ride across the Pyrenees from San Sebastián to Perpignan, climbing 11,000 meters of elevation.
- And, I should lose at least 11kg in doing so.
I will be tackling the distance and the climbs, but we need your support to reach our goal. Your support can make a real difference!
Please donate to bring us closer to our goal and give the teaching hospital and animals of Congo a brighter future.
Every contribution, takes us one step (or pedal stroke) closer to making this vision come true.
How? Donate any amount that feels right to you, for the challenges you think I'll succeed.
